April 9, 2017

The Jason Anderson Foundation for Youth Sports is now accepting applications for its spring 2017 grants. In 2016, the foundation's first year, $8,000 in grants were awarded to various local organizations. To download the application, local youth sports groups can go to www.jasonandersonfoundation.org.

"In our first year, we exceeded our expectations and were able to help more than half a dozen local sports organizations and hundreds of local kids," said Andrew Schwab, chairman of the Jason Anderson Foundation board. "We hope to help even more children in 2017 and look forward to receiving even more applications." During the Jason Anderson Foundation's successful first year, these groups received grants of at least $1,000: Dover Little League, Kent County Stallions, The Police Athletic League of Delaware - Youth Basketball League at Garfield Park, Duffy's Hope, Henlopen Soccer Club and The Western YMCA  Kirkwood Soccer.

The Jason Anderson Foundation for Youth Sports is a 501c3, tax-exempt nonprofit organization founded by the Anderson family after Jason died in an automobile accident in January 2015 at the age of 33. The outpouring of support for the family from friends, colleagues, co-workers, neighbors and gracious members of the community prompted the family and close friends to establish this foundation in Jason's name as a way to give back to the community.
