Dog obedience classes to begin at Mispillion Kennel Club Jan. 25

January 11, 2018

The Mispillion Kennel Club’s next beginners' obedience class session will begin at 7 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 25, with the first night devoted to registration and dog evaluation. Classes will be held at the Milford Community Center, 105 N.E. Front St., Milford.

The class will cover basic obedience commands that are suitable for dogs of any age. The course will give owners a good start in training their puppies as well as covering all commands necessary for older dogs to earn the Canine Good Citizen title. The only age requirements are that puppies must be at least 4 months old to take this class, and dogs must be at least 1 year old to be eligible for the CGC title.

Mispillion Kennel Club members will be on hand during registration to answer questions and evaluate the dogs that are being registered for this class. Attendees should bring their dogs and up-to-date veterinary records for the registration. All dogs must have proof of a current rabies shot, and a basic set of vaccines is also recommended.

Registrations will be accepted until 8:15 p.m. Dog training collars will be available for purchase. Mispillion Kennel Club reserves the right to reject any dog that shows aggressive tendencies. Payment of $75 for each dog will be collected at the time of registration. Payment must be in cash or a check made payable to MKC Inc. No debit or credit cards are accepted.

The classes will continue with training to begin at 7 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 1, at the community center.
