Elizabeth Leona Brown, had a sharp wit

September 11, 2017

Elizabeth Leona Brown, 104, of Millsboro, formerly of Alloway, N.J., passed away peacefully Thursday, Sept 7, 2017.
Elizabeth was born in Penns Grove, N.J., Dec 19, 1912. After graduating from Penns Grove High School, she worked for E I DuPont. She married Andy Banford and moved to Alloway, where she raised her family. In 1964, Elizabeth married Albert Brown. After he passed away in 1980, she moved to Millsboro to be next door to her daughter and son-in-law, Susan Allen Hodges and Bob Hodges.
While in Millsboro, Betty was active in Sussex Pines Country Club, playing golf and bridge with the many friends she made there. The secret of her long life can be summed up in her own words, A Short Philosophy of Life: "I have learned in whatever state I am, therein to be content. I have seen yesterday; I do not fear tomorrow; I love today." Her last years were spent with her wonderful caregivers at Atlantic Shores.
The family would like to thank her dear friends and neighbors, Bill McFarland and Emily Peterson for the many hours they spent in providing her loving care. Betty will long be remembered for her sharp wit, her fun-loving spirit and love of family.
She is survived by her son, Andy Banford (Karen) of Lake Tahoe, Nev.; her niece Margie Goodier (John) of Odessa, and their children Shawn, Matthew and Kelley; as well as her son-in-law Bob Hodges. Elizabeth's daughter, Susan, preceded her in death.
Services for Elizabeth Leona Brown are private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Alzheimer's Association, 108 N. Bedford St., Georgetown, DE 19947. Arrangements by Watson Funeral Home, Millsboro.
