Environmental education conference set in Wilmington Feb. 11

The Delaware Association for Environmental Education to announced its eighth annual conference is set Saturday, Feb. 11, in Wilmington. The 2017 conference theme is Inspired by Nature - Wherever You Are. The keynote address will include wildlife encounters. The keynote speaker will be Phung Luu, executive director for Animal Behaviors and Conservation Connections. Also speaking will be Kathy McGlauflin, national executive director for Project Learning Tree, an award-winning environmental education program and curriculum.

This conference brings together more than 100 formal and non-formal educators in the field of environmental education and will feature several strands of educational sessions, exhibits and opportunities for networking and professional development. Angel Burns, association co-chair, says "This is a wonderful opportunity for anyone interested in environmental education to network with fellow educators, learn about the awesome environmental education opportunities within the state and participate in professional development."

Topics and programs highlighted for this year's conference include a visit to the Enchanted Woods Children's Garden at Winterthur; Digital Storytelling; Nature Journaling; Starting a School Vegetable Garden; Natural Play and Learning Spaces; Technology and Nature; and more.
