James W. ‘Jim’ Jackson, had journalistic career

James W. (Jim) Jackson died peacefully Monday, Jan. 2, 2017.
He was born March 21, 1931, in Radford, Va.
Jim attended West Virginia University and received a degree in Journalism from the University of Maryland. After a stint in the Army during the Korean War, Jim worked as a writer and sports editor for a Baltimore County newspaper, moving on to become a publications supervisor for 32 years at Vitro Corporation in Silver Spring, Md. He retired as a senior systems analyst in 1993.
He was then in retirement able to pursue his interests in family genealogy, global travel, golf and tennis, wood carving, card games and rooting for the Redskins.
Jim is survived by his wife of 57-plus years, Kitty; son Bryan; and grandchildren Cora and Travis.
