Leo Joseph Menard, retired teacher

Leo Joseph Menard, 80, of Lewes, passed away peacefully in his home Tuesday, Aug. 16, 2016. He was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., Sept. 4, 1935, the son of Leo and Beatrice (Beaupre) Menard.

After serving in the Army, he was a math and science teacher at South Plainfield Middle School in New Jersey. He enjoyed caring for his family, spending time in his garden and tending to his large menagerie of farm animals till retiring to Delaware. A beloved foster parent to children for over 50 years, and a member of the Flemington Elks Lodge and the Knights of Columbus, Leo enriched the lives of all those he met and always opened his heart to people. He will be greatly missed and remembered by his family and friends.

Leo is survived by his loving wife, Elizabeth Caron Menard; his children Michael, Suzanne, Laura, Eileen, Leo, Sarah, Joshua; and 12 grandchildren.

A noon Mass service will be held in New Jersey Saturday, Sept. 3, at The Church of Saint Ann, 6 Church St., Hampton, N.J. A memorial service will be held in Delaware Sunday, Sept. 4, from noon to 3 p.m., at the Chapel Green Club House, 104 Ancient Oak Court, Lewes
