MOMS Club presents check to What Is Your Voice

December 4, 2016

The MOMS Club of Coastal Delaware held their 11th Annual Children's Consignment Sale at Cape Henlopen High School Oct. 15 and 16. The sale is their biggest event of the year. Volunteers dedicated a great deal of behind-the-scenes planning, hard work and time to the sale. This year, MOMS Club selected What is Your Voice as the charitable beneficiary. At their November meeting, they presented a check for $4,600 to the nonprofit organization.

What is Your Voice founder and CEO Jacqueline Sterbach said, "The funds are being used to support women and children who are coming out of the throes of domestic violence. Surviving is not enough. They need financial stabilization as we wrap our arms around them to keep the family unit together. We actively help free the mother through aftercare and to restart a new life. We just did a full two-bedroom apartment furniture campaign. We rented a U-Haul truck and workers to load, then volunteers did the rest. This campaign included two queen bed sets with linens, bathroom essentials, dressers, a couch and end tables with lamps. Kitchen appliances, cookware, a loaded pantry with startup items and a full homemade meal. The mother gets a gift basket full of hand soaps and lotions, homemade baked breakfast breads and of course chocolates!

“It took many days of planning and campaigning; the MOMS Club of Coastal Delaware's charity gift and prayers made it all happen. It was a 12-hour day but the joy of seeing the mother and daughter crying with tears of joy, telling us what they experienced for the first time in their life, and the possibility of a new start and life. We will continue to provide aftercare because What is Your Voice knows what is at stake - the children's outcome for their lives."
