Cape Gazette sets early ad deadlines

Due to the Christmas and New Year’s holidays, the classified and retail advertising deadline for the Tuesday, Dec. 26 edition of the Cape Gazette will be Wednesday, Dec. 20. Classified and retail ad deadlines for the Friday, Dec. 29 edition will be Friday, Dec. 22.

Classified and retail advertising deadlines for the Tuesday, Jan. 2 edition will be Wednesday, Dec. 27.

The Cape Gazette office will be closed Monday and Tuesday, Dec. 25 and 26, and Monday, Jan. 1.

Lewes approves hotel site plan

Lewes Mayor and City Council unanimously approved a site plan for the proposed Beach House Hotel at 209 E. Savannah Road at its Dec. 11 meeting.

Owner Jim Owen plans to convert the former 2 Dips ice cream shop property to a 15-room boutique hotel.

Next Sussex council meeting is Jan. 2

Sussex County Council will not meet Tuesday, Dec. 19, or Tuesday, Dec. 26. The next regularly scheduled meeting will be at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 2, in the county administration building, 2 The Circle, Georgetown. Sussex County offices are closed Monday and Tuesday, Dec. 25 and 26.

Lewes African American heritage panel cancels meeting

The Lewes African American Heritage Commission has canceled its meeting set for 6 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 21, at city hall; its next meeting has not been scheduled.

Lewes parks panel cancels meeting

The Lewes Parks and Recreation Commission has canceled its meeting set for 6:30 p.m., Monday, Dec. 18, at the Rollins Center.

Lewes planning group cancels meeting

The Lewes Planning Commission has canceled its meeting set for 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 20, at the city meeting room at the Rollins Community Center.

Its next scheduled meeting will be 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 17, at the Rollins Center.

Beaver Dam Road lane closures

The Delaware Department of Transportation has announced there will be lane closures on Beaver Dam Road from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 20 through Thursday, Dec. 21. 

Motorists can expect lane closures between the roundabout for the Anchor Run subdivision and Stockley Road.
