Norman Thomas Smith III, charter boat captain

Norman Thomas Smith III "Tom," 64, of Lewes passed away Saturday, June 9, 2018, at Beebe Healthcare in Lewes. He was born June 29, 1953, in Greensboro, Md., son of the late Norman T. Smith Jr. and Mina Smith.

Tom worked most of his career as a charter boat captain, and many years at Baltimore Aircoil Co. as a foreman. He was a member of American Legion Post 17 in Lewes. In his spare time, Tom loved to go fishing, but most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family.

Tom is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Edith "Edie" Smith of Lewes; his three children: Norman T. Smith IV and his wife Megan, Christel Hay and her husband Dean, and Bryan Cohen, all of Delaware; his eight grandchildren: Trent, Bryce, Grace, Levi, Ashley, Hannah, Hailey and Sophia; his great-grandson, Avery; his sister, Bonnie Carmine and her husband Jeff; his brother John Smith and his wife Ping; and his beloved dog Maggie.

Memorial Service will be held Friday, June 15, at 3 p.m., at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, where friends may visit beginning at 2 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Tom's name to the Delaware Veterans Home, 100 Delaware Veterans Blvd., Milford, DE 19963.
