Opera superstar Denyce Graves to perform with Delaware Symphony March 26

March 22, 2017

Internationally renowned mezzo-soprano Denyce Graves will be the guest artist with the Delaware Symphony Orchestra at 7:30 p.m., Sunday, March 26, at the theater at Dover High School, in the orchestra's first appearance in Dover since 2010. Music Director David Amado will lead the orchestra and Graves in Manuel de Falla's “Ballet Suite from El Amor Brujo,” a fiery showpiece for singer and orchestra. The concert will begin with Sir Edward Elgar's “Serenade for Strings,” and conclude with Beethoven's Seventh Symphony.

Amado said, "Denyce's gorgeous voice and her magnetic personality have made her one of the most in-demand singers on the planet. I am so looking forward to sharing the stage with her and her dazzling artistry." Amado will also lead a pre-concert discussion from the stage at 6:30 p.m. before the concert. Following the concert, Graves will take part in a question-and-answer session with Dover High School music students, and Delaware Symphony Orchestra musicians will be working with faculty and student musicians at the high school throughout the school year.

Tickets are $15, $25 and $35 for adults, and $10 for students. Seats are general admission by section. To purchase tickets, call 302-656-7442 or email tickets@delawaresymphony.org.
