Richard Orrin Strickland Jr., former project manager

Richard Orrin Strickland Jr., 58, of Rehoboth Beach, formerly of Plant City, Fla., passed away Friday, May 12, 2017, surrounded by his family.

Rich is the son of Richard Orrin Sr. and the late Jayme Findley Strickland. He attended Brandon High School in the ROTC Program. Rich was a lieutenant with the auxiliary Florida State Troopers before his becoming a seargent with the Florida Highway Patrol in Orlando, Fla. He retired after 15 years of service. In 2003 relocating to Delaware, he became the director of school safety and security for the Christiana School District. He was a project manager for Treehouse Wellness Center in partners with Astra Zeneca.

He loved the beach, gardening, the warm weather, the Florida Keys and spending time with his family and friends.

Rich is survived by his wife of 35 years, Patricia A. Strickland, a daughter, Allison P. and a son, Chase P., all of Newark; his partner Christopher T. Cox of Rehoboth Beach; two brothers, Timothy (Robin) of High Springs, Fla. and Albert (Stephanie) of Orlando, Fla.; and their children, Connor, Chandler and Ashton.

Services will be private.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Delaware Hospice Center, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.
