She was married June 23, 1967, to Don Polite, and graduated from Lewes High School in 1969. Her folks were from the Pocomoke, Md. area, but moved to the Lewes area just in time to meet her future husband.

After finishing high school, she worked at Sussex Trust Bank in Lewes for a few years and was a member of the American Institute of Banking. After her children were grown, she worked at Bests' Super Thrift in the Health and Beauty Aids section. She then went on to work at Rite Aid Pharmacy for many years, advancing to assistant manager.

In life, she was a loving, kind, and generous Christian lady. She loved children. She also loved animals and enjoyed watching Jack Hanna's wildlife programs. Ruth Ann had an engaging smile that brought beauty wherever she was present.
