Tech boys’ lacrosse looks at 2018 season with hope

Ravens expect defense to dominate
March 22, 2018

Sussex Tech boys’ lacrosse head coach Don Golacinski is entering his 15th year at the helm for the Ravens, and he is looking for them to improve on last season’s 5-10 record and return to the state tournament, where they competed for the previous nine seasons. According to Golacinski, the Tech team’s strengths are their size and their defense.

“Teddy Letonoff should be an all-conference player at close defender, and Tyzhir Morris will help hold down our midfield at the long pole middie position,” said Golacinski. “Nathan Quillin will soon be the leading scorer in goals and points in Sussex Tech school history.”

Golacinski’s concerns are the team’s lack of depth at long pole defense and the lack of experience at attack.

The Ravens scrimmaged Middletown March 19. Golacinski said his players “had no intensity and were not ready to play.”

“The offense had an off day,” he said. “We had problems with drops, not protecting the stick, and finding the back of the net. I was happy with our defense. We expect our poles to dominate, and we are in great shape with our goalie.”

The Ravens will open the 2018 campaign on the road Friday, March 23, against the Indians of Wicomico High School.
