December 20, 2012

Richard "Rich" O. Magee Jr., 46, of Rehoboth Beach, died as a result of a automobile accident Monday, Dec. 17, 2012, in Rehoboth Beach. Rich was born April 30, 1966, in Lewes, son of Frances (Smith) Magee of Lewes, and the late Richard O. Magee Sr. He was also preceded in death by his sister Odell Magee.

Rich attended the Lewes Christian Academy through high school. His first job was cooking at TJ's corner in Rehoboth Beach. Eventually, he ventured over to the District of Columbia and took a job cooking at Red Hot and Blue and Pep Boys in Virginia. In 1991, Rich returned to the beach where he truly became a jack-of-all-trades working at various jobs which included Manlove Auto Parts and Thompson Electric. Rich had many interests which included going to the beach, driving on the beach in his yellow jeep, pitching horseshoes backwards, the Pittsburgh Steelers, hunting and fishing. He was an active member of the Lewes Church of Christ at the Crossing in Milton. He will remembered as a jokester and a storyteller, but most importantly as a loving father, son and brother.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by two daughters: Megan Lee Magee of Rehoboth Beach and Katy M. Magee of Lewes; a son, Richard T. Magee of Lewes; his former wife and mother of his children, Mary V. Magee of Lewes; two sisters: Jackie Brasswell of Lutz, Fla. and Debbie Hopkins and husband Ed of Rehoboth Beach; and his black Labrador, Duke.

A celebration of Rich's Life will be held at 3 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 22, at Parsell Funeral Homes & Creamtorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes. Friends may call at the funeral home beginning at 2 p.m. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Heart Association, 200 Continental Drive, Ste. 101, Newark, DE 19713.
