William D. Madden Sr., retired businessman

William D. Madden Sr., 75, of Dagsboro, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2013.
Bill was born June 24, 1937, to the late John Wesley and Elizabeth Farnen Madden. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by brothers Michael and Richard Devine.

He moved here from Philadelphia, Pa. in 1990.  He and his wife Becky owned and operated Becky’s Country Inn and Becky’s Country Barn in Dagsboro. He was a bus driver for Ocean City Transit.  He was a U.S. Navy veteran, who served four years in the Navy and then served eight more years in the Army Reserves. He was a member of St. Ann’s Roman Catholic Church in Bethany Beach, a member of the Loyal Order of Moose and American Legion Post 24 in Dagsboro.   He loved taking care of his Koi, working in his workshop, and fishing.  He was devoted to his family, especially his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Rebecca Madden of Dagsboro; a daughter, Colleen McCormick, and a son, William D. Madden Jr. both of Philadelphia; a sister, Margaret Butler of Philadelphia; and six grandchildren, Nicholas, Erik, John, Sarah, Jennifer and William, III.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Monday, Feb. 4, at Watson Funeral Home, 211 S. Washington St., Millsboro, where friends may call after 11 a.m.
Burial with military honors will follow at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery.  Deacon Dennis Hayden will officiate.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to the American Stroke Association, P.O. Box 163549, Columbus, OH  43216-3549.
