The 45th Annual Great Delaware Kite Festival included special awards.  This year's event was dedicated to the memory of former Delaware Lt. Gov. Gene Bookhammer, who was associated with and supported the festival from its very beginnings.  Gene passed away earlier this year.  Plaques commemorating the dedication were presented at the conclusion of this year's festival to Gene's daughters, Joy Basinski and Jeanie Greenhaugh.

Also during that ceremony, the Gene Bookhammer Award for Best All-Around Kite Flyer was presented to Ben Huggett of Philadelphia, Pa.
