W. Ray Masten services set for April 22

W. Ray Masten, 87, of Rehoboth Beach and Millsboro, passed away Tuesday, April 9, 2013, at Beebe Medical Center after suffering a stroke. He was born May 5, 1925, at Masten's Corner, Harrington, son of the late Joseph (Jody) A. Masten and Arta Baker Masten.

Ray graduated from Harrington High School in 1943. He served in the Army and later received his A.A. degree in accounting from Goldey-Beacom Business College. He had a long career in banking with Farmers Bank of the state of Delaware and other local banks. He was a director of the Delaware State Fair from 1971 until his death.

He was a past president of the Rehoboth Chamber of Commerce and a member of both the Dewey Beach and Millsboro Lions Clubs. Ray was a member of Epworth Methodist Church for over 50 years, but also attended Westminster Presbyterian Church. Ray was a longtime member of the Sussex Pines Country Club and an avid golfer. Ray had his second hole in one last year.

Ray was preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife Mille Wilkens Masten, and his two sisters, Phyllis Masten Marvel and Josephine Masten Danna.

 He is survived by his son, Ronald B. Masten; his two nieces; two nephews; his longtime friend and loving companion, Midge Reed and her family.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, April 22, at Epworth United Methodist Church on Holland Glade Road in Rehoboth Beach. Burial will be private.
