Kevin F. Johnson, seafood connoisseur

Kevin Freeman Johnson, 52, of Millsboro passed away surrounded by his loving family at Beebe Medical Center in Lewes, Wednesday, April 24, 2013.

Born in Eastville, Va., Oct. 22, 1960, he was the son of the late Hyland Grew Johnson Sr. and Gloria Satchell Johnson.  He was a truck loader at Perdue, and was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, having served overseas in Japan.  He loved to read and do word finder puzzles, loved listening to music and was especially an 80s fan.  He was a connoisseur of food, especially seafood. He liked to play checkers and liked to fish.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Cassie Hall Johnson' and mother-in-law Irene Fisher.  He is also survived by three stepsons: Antonio Waters, Dale-Juan Waters and Cornell Hall.  Also surviving are brothers Hyland G. Johnson Jr. and his wife Darlene of Lewes, and Keith A. Johnson of Wilmington; a sister: Shorel D. Clark and her husband Bryan of Lewes; and his sister-in-law: Marilyn White.  His nieces and nephews are: Lindsey Clark, Jordan Clark, Jeanae Clark, Hyland G. Johnson III, Brian Johnson, Rachel Johnson, Demetrius Jarmon, Natoria Pettyjohn, DeShawn Hall, Dumara White, and Daniel Johnson.  He also leaves his special friends: Aaron Jarman, Kenneth “Mutley” Mitchell, Calvin Johnson and Sylmer Rainey.

A funeral service and Celebration of His Life will be held at St. John 2nd Baptist Church, Mt. Joy Road, Millsboro, at 1 p.m., Saturday, May 4, where friends may call two hours prior for visitation.  Pastor George Fisher will officiate, and the interment will be at 1 p.m., Monday, May 6. at the Delaware Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, with the conferring of military honors.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to The Tunnell Cancer Center, c/o Beebe Medical Center, 424 Savannah Road, Lewes, DE 19958.
