Allan L. Lee, proud to be a Marine

Allan L. Lee, 77, of Frankford, passed away Monday, June 24, 2013.

Mr. Lee was born in Leal, N.D. Feb. 9, 1936, to the late Alvin and Clara Grindahl Lee. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a sister, Glenice Robison; and two brothers, Dwayne and Carlton Lee.

Allan married Shirley Ann Newheiser in Valley City, N.D. in 1977. He was the vice president of Arcal Chemicals in Seat Pleasant, Md. for 27 years. He was a member of American Legion Post 24 in Dagsboro, was a sponsor of the Vietnam War Memorial, and served in the U.S. Marine Corps proudly. He loved camping and the outdoors and was skilled in ceramics. He liked boats and sports. He was a very kind and sweet person, but also still knew how to be a Marine, and when needed could be stern and disciplined. He was very good to all, a loving father and grandfather.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley; and his children: Charles Allan Lee and wife Lisa of Dunkirk, Md., Angela Lee DiCarlo and husband Jimmy of Port Republic, Md., Karen Ann Blades and husband Dennis of Frankford, and Jeffrey Lynn Schellin and wife Marisa of Dunkirk. He is also survived by a sister, Marion Boswell, of Ellicott City, Md.; and a brother Ordean Lee, of Fargo, N.D. In addition, he has nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren, plus one on the way, along with extended family members and friends.

A memorial service and celebration of his life will be held at Millville United Methodist Church, 407 Atlantic Ave., Monday, July 1, at 12:30 p.m. The Rev. Donald Schell will officiate. Interment follows at 2 p.m. at the Delaware Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery in Millsboro, with the conferring of military honors. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriot Way, Milford, DE 19963, or to the American Cancer Society, PO Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718.
