Stella Marie Greenberg, talented homemaker

Mrs. Stella Marie Greenberg, 74, of Lewes, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family Wednesday, June 26, 2013.

A native Delawarean, Mrs. Greenberg was born in Wilmington May 27, 1939, daughter of the late Michael S. Poccynek and Pearl M. D’Amico Poccynek. She was a talented homemaker throughout her life.

Active in her community, Mrs. Greenberg was a member and past president of the Angola by the Bay Homemakers Club and a member of the Angola by the Bay Women’s Club. For many years, she greatly enjoyed playing tennis, swimming, going to the beach, and bowling with friends. With her husband, Irv, she traveled all over the world to many interesting and exotic destinations.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 37 years, Irving J. Greenberg; her brother-in-law, Richard Hadley Sr., and her dearest friend, Joann Malascalza. She will be dearly missed by her stepson Gary Greenberg (Angela) of Pennsylvania; stepdaughter Ruth Levin of Claymont; siblings Michael, John (Irene), and David Poccynek, all of Wilmington, Barbara Hadley of New Castle, and Diane Myers of Wilmington; wonderful, loving friend, Bette Nedwick of Wilmington; four stepgrandchildren; three stepgreat-grandchildren; nine nieces and nephews; 14 great-nieces and -nephews; and three great-great-nieces.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Sunday, June 30, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Pkwy., New Castle, where visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Interment will follow in Beth Emeth Memorial Park in Wilmington.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 92 Read’s Way, Ste. 205, New Castle, DE 19720.
