Margaret Mann Gibbs, Booker Street founder

Margaret Mann Gibbs, 85, was born in Engelhart, N.C., to the late Lazzine and Jim Mann Nov. 26, 1927.  She passed away Wednesday, June 26, 2013, at Health Care & Rehabilitation Center in Lewes.

Margaret was employed at Paramount-Cargill Poultry Plant and Townsend Bean Factory in Georgetown until her retirement.  She was one of the founders of the Booker Street Church of God in Georgetown.  Margaret loved to "eat out."

She was preceded in death her husband, Carlos Gibbs Sr.; a daughter, Queenie Gibbs Anderson; a son, Jerry Gibbs; two sisters, Ruth Neal and Ida Mae Mann; and one brother, Carl Lee Mann.

She is survived by Joseph Gibbs of Georgetown, Raymond (Patricia) Mann of Evans, Ga., Clifford (Victoria) of Lewes, Gary (Rita) of Pittsgrove, N.J., Carlos Gibbs of Georgetown and Steven Gibbs of Camden.  She had 39 grandchildren; 59 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great-grandchildren; and four great-great-great-grandchildren.

Margaret is also survived by five sisters, Eva Shelton and Helen Howard of  Englehart, N.C,,and Martha Selby of Georgetown, Lizzie Cannon of Bridgeville and Cora Mann of Harrington; and three brothers, Charles and Willie Mann of Englehart and Louis Mann of Bridgeville.

There will be a viewing Friday, July 5, from 6 to 8 p.m., at St. John 2nd Baptist Church, 26602 Mount Joy Road, Millsboro, and the funeral will be Saturday, July 6, at the church at noon. Burial will be at Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery in Lewes.
