Ann Marie Zappaterrine Crisconi, known as 'Mrs. Clean'

October 27, 2013

Ann Marie Zappaterrine Crisconi, 89, passed into the arms of Our Lord Wednesday, Oct. 23, at St. Francis Hospital, Wilmington, surrounded by her loving family.

Ann was born June 28, 1924, to Sabina (Ottaviani) and Loreto Zappaterrine. She was affectionately known to her friends and family as "Mrs. Clean" and was admired for her immaculately clean house and her great cooking. Her greatest joy in life was her family, especially her three grandchildren. She loved spending time at her daughter's home in Rehoboth Beach where she would sit on the porch and just "people watch" all day long.

In addition to her parents, Ann was predeceased by an infant son, Alfonso Jr.; and her beloved brothers Benjamin, Joseph, and David who owned and operated Zappaterrini Bros. Bakery for 43 years; and a loving sister, Yolanda Rossi of Jacksonville, Fla.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her loving husband of 65 years Alfonso; her three devoted daughters, Francine Filliben and her husband Ted, Deborah Nepa and her husband Ernest, and Paula Capriglione. Also surviving Ann are her three grandchildren, Jayne Capriglione and her fiancé Stephen Hughes, Jenna N. Nepa, and Ernest Nepa Jr.; and many nieces, nephews and friends, all who loved her very much. Also missing her would be her granddogs, Pugslee, Samuel, and Jackson, and her grandcat, Bedelia.

A special thanks to St. Francis Hospital especially the cardiac ICU nurses, and also to Compassionate Care Hospice for all the excellent care they provided to Ann during her hospitalization.

A viewing will be held from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m., Monday, Oct. 28, at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 9th and DuPont streets, Wilmington. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:30 a.m.

Donations in Ann's memory may be sent to St. Edmond's Academy, 2120 Veale Road, Wilmington, DE 19810.
