Anne Hyland Porter, retired secretary

Anne M. (Hyland) Porter, 80, of Milton, passed away Saturday, Nov. 23, 2013, at Beebe Medical Center, Lewes.

Anne was born in Philadelphia, Pa., daughter of the late Lees H. and Marie (Reis) Hyland.

She worked in the treasurer's department at E.I. Dupont and was a receptionist for many New Castle area physicians' offices. Anne graduated from Penns Grove Regional High School, Class of 1951. After her retirement, Anne moved to Broadkill Beach in 1988 and was a member of the Broadkill Beach Preservation Association.

Anne enjoyed cross-stitch and sports. She had played basketball for E.I. Dupont and was a basketball star in high school.

In addition to her parents, Anne was preceded in death by her husband, Harold L. “Lee” Porter Jr.; a daughter, Michele Lee Reed; and a grandson, Kevin Michael Reed.

She is survived by two children, Denise Marie Riley and Harold Leroy Porter III, both of Rehoboth; six grandchildren, Blake, Ryan, Kaitlyn and Kameron Riley, and Bryan and Ashley Lee Reed; seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Carol Lee Perelli, of Henderson, Nev.; and a brother: Lee Hyland, of Pennsville, N.J.

A funeral service will be held Monday, Dec. 2, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 416 Federal St., Milton, with visitation after 10 a.m. Burial will be held privately.
