Bilingual story time at Lewes library Dec. 20

The Lewes Public Library will hold a special bilingual story time at 10:30 a.m., Friday, Dec. 20. Steve Marz, director of the Delaware Public Archives, and Charito Calvachi-Mateyko will read from her book "Navidad Latinoamericana /Latin American Christmas." They will read stories and discuss holiday traditions of different Latin American countries. Light refreshments will be served. This program is sponsored by the Delaware Heritage Commission.

Stephen M. Marz is a certified archivist, State of Delaware Archivist and director of the Delaware Public Archives. He earned his master’s degrees in social work and history at the University of Maryland. Prior to assuming the position of State Archivist, Marz served as deputy director for the State of Delaware Division of Historical and Cultural Affairs. A resident of Sussex County, Marz is an advocate for the protection and conservation of the documents and photographs that provide the framework for the history of the First State.

Charito Calvachi-Mateyko is an author and storyteller. Her book, “Navidad Latinoamericana/Latin American Christmas,” brings readers through a truly multicultural experience celebrating Christmas traditions of 25 Latin American countries. Written in both Spanish and English, the book contains stories and illustrations and includes a CD with Latin American Christmas songs and music.
