Mary Louise Sample, now present with the Lord

January 9, 2014

Mary Louise Sample, 58, daughter of the late Eunice Rebecca Sample, departed this life at Beebe Healthcare in Lewes Friday, Jan. 3, 2014, to go to her heavenly home. She was born June 24, 1955, at Beebe.

She attended Millsboro 204 Elementary School and was in the Indian River School District for her high school education. She did domestic work in the Millsboro area for many years.

She was known to her family and friends as Louise. She was a homebody, very quiet and easy going, kind of a loner, but if anyone needed her to do anything she could be counted on to get the job done; even if it was inconvenient for her, she would still do it and would never complain.

Some of her favorite foods were: pigs feet, greens and she loved “Teresa’s turnips.” Louise loved to bake and she could be found trying new recipes that she came across. She was a loyal Avon customer. She liked to watch “a good show” on television or “a good picture” as she would say. Her favorite poem was “Footprints.”

Louise was a member of Missionary Baptist Church and she loved to read the Bible. Because of her relationship with God and the church, both of whom she loved dearly, she walked in peace and contentment. You could see His glory on her and could feel His presence within her, even as His angels came to usher her home to be with the Lord. She knew that to be absent from the body that she would be present with the Lord.

Mary Louise leaves to cherish her memories her brother, Sammy Sample (Grace) of Georgetown; her sister, Rebecca (Larry) Jones of Lewes; one nephew, Darrell; three nieces, Shenika, Katina and Nicole; great-nieces, and great-nephews; and a host of cousins and friends.

There will be a viewing Saturday, Jan. 11 at 11 a.m. at Missionary Baptist Church 18314 County Seat Road, Georgetown, and the funeral service will be 1 p.m. at the church.
