Rosalie M. Atkinson, UD retiree
Rosalie M. Atkinson, 86, of Millsboro and formerly of Newark, passed away peacefully at home Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2014.
She was born in Londonderry, North Ireland, May 29, 1927, and came to Delaware after marrying her husband of 67 years. She retired from the University of Delaware after 21 years of service.
A loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmom and great-grandmom, she is survived by her husband John; son Wayne; daughter Karen (Alex); and son Brian (Vikki); grandchildren: Cheri, Nick, Donavon, and Natalie; and great-grandchildren: Niko, Natalie, Reanna, Raymond, Payton and Tristan.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Monday, Jan. 13, at the Long Neck Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, 32013 Long Neck Road, Millsboro, where friends and family may call after 12:30 p.m. Interment will follow.
In lieu of flowers, make donations in memory of Rosalie to Compassionate Care Hospice, 28467 DuPont Blvd., Millsboro, DE 19966.
