Beacon defeats Mariner in wrestling matchup 74-15

The twin Capes of Beacon and Mariner wrestling went toe to toe at Cape Henlopen High School Jan. 27 with Beacon winning 74-15.

Both full squads met on the mats afterward and listened to words of encouragement from high school head coach Chris Mattioni.

The season rolls on this Saturday with the Henlopen Conference Championship Meet.

Beacon 82-pounder Anthony Caruso  is unbeaten and the top seed headed into the tournament, as is Jacob Crenshaw at 88 pounds.

Chris Handlin, 155 pounds, finished the season with one loss and is a threat to win his weight class.
