ST students receive nominations for U.S. service academies

Sussex Technical High School announces that two of its seniors and three graduates have been nominated for U.S. service academies.

Seniors nominated were Natalie Sava of Seaford and Robert Christensen of Harbeson. U.S. Sen. Tom Carper nominated Sava for the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md. She is presently studying media broadcasting communications technologies. Christensen was nominated by Carper, U.S. Sen. Chris Coons and U.S. Rep. John Carney for the United States Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, N.Y. Christensen is studying electronics/computer information systems engineering at Sussex Tech.

2013 graduate Kyle Breckner of Lincoln received a nomination for the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colo., from Carper and Carney. Coons and Carney nominated 2013 graduate John Hearn of Lewes for the United States Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point.

Carney nominated 2012 Sussex Tech graduate Madelyn Crimmins of Georgetown for the United States Military Academy in West Point, N.Y.

The decision to appoint a nominee rests solely with each academy.
