Manuel 'Bud' Ghigliotty, loved the water

Manuel (Bud) Ghigliotty, 75, of Lewes, formerly of Cape May, N.J., passed away Monday, March 31, 2014.

Born in Maspeth, Long Island, N.Y. Nov. 30, 1938, Bud spread his wings and moved to Barnegat, N.J. where he met his wife of 54 years, Lucille Ora DeChino. As a young man, his love for the water led him into a career as a commercial fisherman along with his talent of building boats. In addition, Bud started his own business, in 1965, Ghigliotty Construction Company Inc., in Forked River, N.J. In his later years he moved to Lewes, where he retired from the Carpenters Union, Local 2012 out of Blades. He enjoyed spending time with his endearing family, his four legged companion Scruffadonia, hunting and fishing.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Theresa DeErrico; and two brothers, Peter and George Ghigliotty. In addition to his wife, Bud is survived by his sons, Frank M. Ghigliotty and Anne Ercolino; Thomas S. Ghigliotty and his wife Susan; his grandson Shane T. Ghigliotty; brothers Henry Ghigliotty, his wife Audree, and Richard Ghigliotty; his sister, Miriam Douglas and her husband Donald; nephews Stephen and David Ghigliotty, Donald Richard Douglas and a niece Donna Harden.

A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m., Friday, April 4, at St. James Anglican Church, 23269 Park Ave., Georgetown.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations to be sent in Bud’s name to Delaware SPCA, 22918 DuPont Hwy., Georgetown, DE 19947.
