Irene Lowe, lived for her family

Irene Lowe, 88, of Millsboro, passed away at home Monday, April 28, 2014. She was born at Lowe's Crossroads July 25, 1925, to the late Alton B. and Essie (Esham) Cordrey.

Mrs. Lowe, a lifelong resident of the Gumboro and Mission communities, loved and lived for her family, especially cooking for large family gatherings. In early years, Mrs. Lowe worked alongside her husband in their farming business. Later in life she enjoyed needlework and painting.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Lowe was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Norwood Lowe; and a brother, Vernon Cordrey. She is survived by one son, Phillip Lowe and wife Rose; three daughters, Carol Hudson and husband Darryl, Sharon Lecates and husband Johnny, Lisa Fisher and husband Jeff; 10 grandchildren, Teresa Mumford Scott and husband Allen, Tara Davis and husband Jeff, Buddy Lowe and friend Michelle, Derek Lowe and wife Frannie, Dawn Short and husband Norm, Ashley Touchton and husband Joey, Amber Fisher, Michelle Brittingham, Michele McCabe and husband Willie, and Doug Beauchamp; 13 great-grandchildren, Myron, Storm, Hank, Andrew, Kayla, Paige, Taylor, Alyssa, Danielle, Tiffany, Logan, William and Dylan. Also surviving are one brother, Richard Cordrey; one aunt, Hilda (Esham) Hall; and friend Pat Peters.

Services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, May 3, at Watson Funeral Home, 211 Washington St., in Millsboro where friends may call from noon until time of the service. Interment will be in Millsboro Cemetery, Millsboro.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Delaware Hospice Inc, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963, or the Gumboro Volunteer Fire Company, 37030 Millsboro Hwy., Millsboro, DE 19966.
