Wayne Edward Rust, DelDOT retiree

Wayne Edward Rust, 70, of Georgetown, passed away Wednesday, April 30, 2014, at Beebe Healthcare, Lewes.

He was born in Georgetown, the son of the late William and Myrtle (Massey) Rust. He worked as a civil engineer for DelDOT for 33 years, retiring in 1990. He also worked for Sunoco at NASCAR for 26 years.

He was a member of St. John’s United Methodist Church. He coached Georgetown Little League for several years and played softball for several years. He enjoyed stock car and harness racing.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Deron Nelson Rust.

He is survived by his son, Duane Rust and wife Lynette of Georgetown; former wife and good friend, Irene Rust of Georgetown; sisters, Ruth Hart of Frankford and Denise Browning of Georgetown; and brothers, Billy G. Rust and Eric Rust, both of Georgetown; grandchildren, Colleen, Casey and Deanna Rust; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Monday, May 5, at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 609 E. Market St., Georgetown, where friends may call after 11 a.m. Interment will be in St. John’s Cemetery, Millsboro.
