Dewey Beach family movies, bonfires return June 16 for summer season

The public is invited to bring a blanket and some popcorn to Dewey Beach on Mondays starting June 16 for family movie night. Movies will start at approximately 8:30 p.m. on the beach at Dagsworthy Avenue.

The June 16 movie is "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2."  Other titles and dates include "The Odd Life of Timothy Green" June 23, "Frozen" June 30, "Monsters University" July 7, "Curious George" (2006) July 14, "Fly Me to the Moon" July 21, "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory" July 28, "The Smurfs" Aug. 4, "The Smurfs 2" Aug. 11, "Despicable Me 2" Aug. 18, and "Planes" Aug. 25.

Family bonfire night will be held from 7:30 to 11 p.m., Wednesdays June 18 through Aug. 27 on the beach at Dagsworthy Avenue.

All metered parking remains in effect; nonmetered spaces are free from 5 to 11 p.m., Monday to Wednesday.

These events are weather-dependent. In event of inclement weather, cancellations will be determined no later than 7 p.m. on day of event for movies and 6 p.m. on day of event for bonfires.

Notice of cancellation will be posted at the Dewey Beach Life Saving Station bulletin board. Staff will notify Dewey Beach accommodations of cancellations made prior to the start of an event. If weather is clear, events will take place as scheduled, but may be ended at any time during due to weather conditions.
