Christine M. Bare, retired hairdresser

Mrs. Christine M. Bare, 81, of Gumboro, passed away Saturday, May 24, 2014.

Christine was born Dec. 25, 1932, in Pittsville, Md. She is preceded in death by her mother, Louise Campbell; and a grandson, Norman Andrew Elliott.

She worked as a hairdresser. Christine was a wonderful woman devoted to her husband and family. She was a member of the Gumboro Vol. Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary where she was very active. She enjoyed crafts, decorating and loved jewelry. Christine will be remembered as a fun, energetic woman who was always willing to lend a helping hand. She will be dearly missed.

She is survived by her husband, Fred Bare of Gumboro; a son, Billy Elliott and his fiancée Beverly Wilkins of Salisbury, Md.; a stepson, Jay Bare and his wife Norma of Sharptown, Md.; a sister, Dorothy Collins of Gumboro; and one granddaughter, Jody Mason. She is also survived by her cat Babe as well as many extended family and friends.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, May 30, at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery Chapel. Inurnment will follow. Pastor Robert Hudson will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Christine’s memory to the Gumboro Vol. Fire Co. Building Fund, 37030 Millsboro Hwy., Millsboro, DE 19966.
