Doreen 'Dee' Lyons, devout Catholic

Doreen Grace "Dee" Lyons, 90, of Lewes, passed away Saturday, June 28, 2014, at Beebe Healthcare, Lewes. She was born June 26, 1924, in Arlington, N.J., daughter of the late Frank and Theresa (Carroll) Walguarnery.

Mrs. Lyons was very active in church activities at St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church in Lewes. She loved volunteering, especially at Beebe Healthcare, where she was an auxiliary volunteer. Mrs. Lyons was a member of the St. Vincent DePaul Society, the Columbiettes and also the Zwaanendael Club.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Lyons was preceded in death by her husband, John J. Lyons. She is survived by a son, Paul Lyons and wife Janet of Mechanicsville, M.d; a daughter, Kathleen Lyons of Derwood, Md.; a granddaughter, Cynthia McRoy and husband Anthony of Mechanicsville; a great-granddaughter, Erin McRoy, also of Mechanicsville; and a sister, Elsye Crossin and husband Tom Good Sr. of Edison, N.J.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, July 24, at 11 a.m., at St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church, 152 Tulip Drive, Lewes, where friends may visit beginning at 10 a.m. Interment will be private. Arrangements are being handled by Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Lewes.

The family would like to recognize all involved in the care of Doreen's well being.
