Hugh Thomas Rowan, avid outdoorsman

Hugh Thomas Rowan, 59, of Milton, passed away Thursday, July 10, 2014.

He was born June 1, 1955, in Wilmington, the son of Lillian (Hollett) Rowan and the late Joseph F. Rowan Sr.

A graduate of Middletown High School, he attended the University of Delaware and spent his life working in agriculture on the family farm and at Milford Grain Company. His happiest moments were spent with his wife, children, and grandchildren.

An avid outdoorsman, he loved nothing more than spending his days surf-fishing on Assateague Island and on the Outer Banks with his family and fishing buddies. He is remembered by those who loved him as a loyal, compassionate, loving husband, father, PopPop and friend.

He is survived by his loving wife, Lynne (Isaacs) Rowan, to whom he would be married 38 years July 31, as well as four children, Jennifer, Matthew, Sarah and Steven; five grandchildren, Zach, Luke and Ben Stutzman, Cadence Hostetler and Judah Rowan; his mother, Lillian (Hollett) Rowan; his brother Joseph F. Rowan Jr. and sister-in-law Christy Rowan; nieces Laura Baker and Emily Rowan; and great-niece Lillian Baker.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Tuesday, July 15, in the chapel of Gateway Fellowship Church, 8011 Cannon Road, Bridgeville. Viewing and burial will be private.
