Knights of Columbus honor Wounded Warriors at dinner dance

First of its kind in Sussex County and unique to the state of Delaware, the Fr. Capodanno Assembly No. 2413 Knights of Columbus hosted a dinner dance to celebrate local Wounded Warriors and the Association of the Military Order of the Purple Heart. The event was held at St. Jude The Apostle Life Center in Lewes and over 170 guests and caretakers attended.

Highlights of the evening included the introduction of John Sauer, who is a veteran of the D-Day invasion of 1944, and Philip Ealey, an RAF pilot during World War ll. Other honorees included those wounded in Iraq, Afghanistan, Vietnam and other World War ll theaters. Also introduced were Knights who served in the military recently and in the past.

Chairman of the event was Sir Knight Andrew Palumbo, captain of the assembly. Others involved included Sir Knight Charles Garrod, Past Department Commander of the Korean War Veterans Association; Virginia Falgowski, president of the Msgr. Desmond Council Columbiettes; and Sir Knight John J. McGinley, Assembly Faithful Navigator.

Knights who assisted in the very successful event were members of the St. Molua Council No. 4075 of Seaford, Star of the Sea Council No. 7297 of Rehoboth Beach, Bishop Burke Council No. 11285 of Millsboro and Monsignor Desmond Council No. 13348 of Lewes.
