William 'Bill' Parker, DuPont Co. retiree

William E. "Bill" Parker, 88, of Rehoboth Beach, passed away Sunday, July 27, 2014, at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital in Seaford. He was born Jan. 30, 1926, in Woodstown, N.J., son of the late Earl and Anna (Prash) Parker.

Mr. Parker served proudly with the U.S. Navy, and enjoyed a lifelong career as a human resource manager with DuPont Company in Gibbstown, N.J. He previously resided in Paulsboro, N.J., prior to his retirement in the mid 1970s and relocation to the Rehobth Beach area. Mr. Parker was very active in his church, Conley's United Methodist, where he was a longtime member of the church choir. He loved square dancing, especially with the Whirlaways Square Dancing Club, and enjoyed dancing to all types of music. Whenever time permitted, fishing and crabbing the local waters were among his favorite pastimes. Mr. Parker was known to most for his many handyman skills, from servicing his own vehicles to building his own homes.

He was a member of the Jefferson Masonic Lodge 15 in Lewes, and American Legion Post 28 in Millsboro. Mr. Parker will be remembered as a loving husband, father, brother, companion and friend to many.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Parker was preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine L. Parker, in 2007; and a son, William W. Parker in 2002. He is survived by two sons: Kevin G. Parker of Laurel and Thomas Hubler of Laurel; one brother, James Parker of Gibbstown; and his loving companion, Holly Pfeifer of Dover.

A viewing will be held from 10 to 11 a.m., Friday, Aug. 1, at Conley's United Methodist, 33106 Jolyn's Way, Lewes. A Masonic service followed by funeral services will be at 11 a.m., at Conley's United Methodist Church. Interment with military honors will be at 2 p.m., Friday, Aug. 1, at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Millsboro.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Conley's United Methodist Church.
