Family Friendly Outdoor Events Planned This Weekend in Milton, Lewes, Rehoboth Beach and Ocean City

October 6, 2020

We continue this week with several more outdoor events and festivities here in the spectacular coastal regions of both Delaware and Maryland. So grab your mask and get ready to have some fun this weekend at and near the beaches!

From Milton to Ocean City and several places in between, we’ve got some fun options for you and your family over the next few days here in the local area.

It may not be the fall festival season we’ve all grown accustomed to over the last few years, but there’s still plenty to see and do in Rehoboth Beach, Ocean City, Lewes, Milton and several other coastal locales.

Most events continue to be outside, due to state mandated health restrictions, but the weather hasn’t turned so cold that you can’t still enjoy a morning or afternoon outside with family and/or friends.

So let’s get right into it and tell you about the Oldfather Group’s top choices for fun and fellowship between Friday, October 9 and Sunday, October 11, here in the coastal region.

We begin in Rehoboth Beach and a popular annual event that’s gone virtual for 2020…

Boardwalk Buddy Walk (October 10). Just because we’re in the middle of a pandemic doesn’t mean the need for Down Syndrome research goes away, thus this year’s Boardwalk Buddy Walk goes on. Though it will have a twist in 2020 due to current health related restrictions.

The kick off for this year’s virtual event will be at 9 a.m., on Saturday, October 10, with participants urged to walk with family and friends in their own neighborhoods, instead of together en masse on the Rehoboth Beach Boardwalk.

Walk around your communities, around town or even on the boardwalk if you like this Saturday, wherever you choose, just with the goal of supporting Down Syndrome research and support programs.

There’s no registration fee to participate, but donations are appreciated and are always put to good use enhancing the quality of life for individuals with Down Syndrome, as well as their families.

Outdoor Rummage and Craft Sale (October 11). This fundraiser for the Rehoboth Beach-Dewey Beach Chamber of Commerce is scheduled for Sunday, October 11, in the parking lot of Jungle Jim’s, located on Country Club Road in Rehoboth.

Hours are 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with as many as 90 vendors expected to be on-site for this year’s event. Items available for sale include fresh fall produce, excess business inventory, handmade items, antiques and more.

Food trucks will also be on-site, with plenty of available options for when you get hungry. Rain date for the event is Sunday, October 11.

Celebrity Chefs’ Beach Brunch (October 11). This year’s Beach Brunch is going to look and feel a bit different because of the region’s health related restrictions, but the event is still planned for 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., on Sunday, October 11.

Participating restaurants this year will offer a special brunch for two as a take-out or dine-in option, which guests can pick up or dine in at their chosen eatery during the allotted hours of 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Meals on Wheels of Delaware, the recipient of the fundraiser, will notify the chosen restaurant and guests will then make contact directly to place their order or their reservations.

You will need to mention that you’re part of the “Beach Brunch” activities when contacting the restaurant and you’ll be asked to show your ticket to confirm payment.

Participating restaurants for 2020 include Bethany Blues, Bluecoast Seafood Grill, The Cafe on 26, Paul’s Kitchen & Cullen-ary Company and the Starboard.
