Summer Isn’t Over Yet! There’s A Full Slate of Local Events Scheduled for the Final Week of August in the Coastal Region.

August 21, 2019

The Summer of 2019 may be winding down here in the coastal region, but we’ve still got several more seasonal events to tell you about before Labor Day comes around and begins the transition into fall and the busiest time of the year for local festivals and happenings.

We’re literally all over the region this week, with events taking place at several different locations. From Milton to Ocean City, and several places in between, there’s definitely no shortage of fun things to see and do this weekend at the Delaware and Maryland beaches.

Okay, let’s head out to Milton and get started on this week’s events blog. Grab your rubber ducky for our first event, which has become one of the highlights of the summer festival season in reason years.

Bargains on the Broadkill/Great Duck Race (August 24). Featuring more than 50 vendors, the always popular Great Duck Race and plenty of other options for quality family fun, the annual Bargains on the Broadkill event in Milton is always a popular late summer gathering in coastal Delaware.

Also for 2019 will be the annual Broadkill 10-Mile Canoe and Kayak Race, which will both begin and end in downtown Milton.

All events take place in Milton Memorial Park on Chandler Street, with the event scheduled to run from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.

Delaware Seashore State Park Paddlefest (August 24). Best described by organizers as a “scavenger hunt via kayak,” this relatively new event will be held form 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., this Saturday, August 24, at Delaware Seashore State Park.

Participants will paddle a  four-mile course that meanders through the salt marsh creeks of the state park. Along the way, park staff will be stationed on the course to talk about wildlife, local history and hand out some much needed snacks to the paddlers.

There will also be food, drinks, music, kids’ activities and an after party this year, so head out to Delaware Seashore State Park this Saturday for all the fun.
