‘Elf the Musical’ to open in Milford Nov. 29

November 16, 2019

Second Street Players will present “Elf the Musical” this holiday season, opening at 7 p.m., Friday, Nov. 29, at Riverfront Theater, 2 S. Walnut St., Milford.

This will be the first time a Delmarva community theater will perform the recently released stage version of the beloved story, and the only opportunity to see it in Delaware in 2019.

With new songs and everyone’s favorite characters from the movie, this holiday experience is great for the whole family.

In “Elf the Musical,” Buddy, a young orphan, mistakenly crawls into Santa's bag of gifts and is transported to the North Pole. The would-be elf is raised there, unaware that he is a human, until his enormous size and poor toy-making abilities force him to face the truth.

With Santa's permission, Buddy embarks on a journey to New York City to find his birth father and discover his true identity. Faced with the harsh realities that his father is on the naughty list and his half-brother doesn't even believe in Santa, Buddy is determined to win over his new family and help New York remember the true meaning of Christmas.

Directed by Tammy Crawford, “Elf The Musical” is sure to make audience members embrace their inner elves. After all, the best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear.

Show dates are Friday and Saturday, Nov. 29 and 30, and Sunday, Dec. 1; Friday to Sunday, Dec. 6 to 8; and Friday to Sunday, Dec. 13 to 15. Curtain is at 7 p.m. for Friday and Saturday shows, and 2 p.m. for Sunday shows. Tickets are $20. For Sunday matinees, a $1 discount will be given to seniors, students and military.
