Auditions rescheduled for ‘Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder’

Possum Point Players Stage Director Jim Hartzell, Music Director Diane Trautman and Choreographer Bliss Soucek will conduct auditions for the musical comedy “A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder” have been rescheduled for 7 p.m., Sunday and Monday, Feb. 6 and Feb. 7., in the green room at Possum Hall, 441 Old Laurel Highway, Georgetown.

All who audition must be vaccinated against COVID-19.

Show dates are now scheduled for Friday to Sunday, April 22 to 24, and April 29 and 30, and May 1. 

There are five main characters and an ensemble with the amount of members to be determined. There will be eight total ensemble numbers and five smaller group numbers. This will result in a busy schedule for members of the ensemble.

Those auditioning must prepare a vocal selection with either sheet music for the accompanist or prerecorded accompaniment without vocals.

Auditions will also include readings from the script and some basic dance movement.

Anyone who cannot make the audition dates or who would like to work in an off-stage position may email Jim Hartzell at jlhart8@mchsi.com. All who volunteer for work crews must be fully vaccinated as well.

The show has been reviewed as a knock-'em-dead, uproarious hit and was the most-nominated show of the 2014 award season, with 10 Tony nominations and four wins including best musical, book, direction and costumes. The show also earned seven Drama Desk Awards including best musical, four Outer Critics Circle Awards including best musical, and one Drama League Award for best musical.

“A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder” is presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International. All authorized performance materials are also supplied by MTI.
