Starting Saturday, Jan. 2, the Rehoboth Beach Film Society’s Cinema Art Theater will present “Herself,” a drama that tells the uplifting story of an Irish woman who is determined to protect her family and change their lives for the better.
Young mother Sandra escapes her abusive husband with her two small daughters. A turning point in her devastated life comes when her employer, a retired doctor, gifts Sandra a plot of land in her Dublin garden and lends her some money to build a house. She then fights back against a broken housing system and in the process rebuilds her life and rediscovers herself.
Screening times are 4 and 7 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 2; 1 and 3:15 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 3; 1 and 4 p.m, Wednesday, Jan. 6; and 3 and 6 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 7. Admission is $8 for members and $11 for future members. Customers are encouraged to purchase tickets online at rehobothfilm.com. If seats are available, tickets can be purchased at the theater starting 30 minutes prior to each screening.
