ALERT: Weekend forecast forces cancellations

Because of the likelihood of inclement weather, Cape Region events are being forced to cancel or postpone.
• 40th annual Sandcastle Contest in Rehoboth Beach has been cancelled. The contest will take place next year, Saturday, Sept. 7.
• Pooches in the Park, slated for Sept. 8, in Lewes Canalfront Park has been cancelled. The event was scheduled from 1 to 3 p.m. A rain date has not been determined.
• The Bethany Beach Arts Festival, scheduled for Sept. 8 and rescheduled to Sept. 9, has been cancelled.
