Alley Oop All-Girls Skim Camp glides into Dewey

Sydney Pizza and Alley Oop Skim presented the second annual Girls Only Skim Camp June 12-13 on St. Louis Street in Dewey Beach.
It was the first of two editions for the 2024 season. The session included 17 young skimmers looking to hone their skills under the tutelage of Zap pro skimmer Sydney Pizza.
Pizza and her staff of Rylea Sinex, Brynne Fox, Lyla Fox and Savannah Hope taught the young skimboarders anything and everything skim-related. Beginners as young as 5 and intermediate riders as old as 12 all practiced the skills needed to pursue a future pro career.
The second edition of the clinic is set for Tuesday and Wednesday, Aug. 6 and 7, and the organizers are hoping to have 20 or more in attendance. Top professional female skimboarders will be featured at the clinic as well as the current female world champion.
“I think the clinic was the perfect way to start off the summer,” said Pizza. “The girls came out strong and showed a lot of promise for what the next generation holds. Personally, it was inspiring to see so many little girls falling in love with the same sport I did 15 years ago.”
