Alliance volunteers clean up around Silver Lake and Lake Comegys
Save Our Lakes Alliance 3 volunteers recently gathered to clean up and beautify Silver Lake and Lake Comegys.
With more than a dozen participants armed with gloves, trash grabbers and trash bags, they jumped into kayaks to remove debris and trash from the lakes and surrounding shorelines. Retrieved items included plastic and glass bottles, aluminum cans, tire walls, a traffic cone, a lawn mower blade, tennis shoes, furniture cushions, fishing line and plastic bags.
The cleanup event is part of the organization’s broader mission to reduce environmental damage and promote sustainable lake management.
Rick Hardy, SOLA 3 president, said, “This is more than just picking up trash. It’s about protecting our lakes for future generations, ensuring wildlife can thrive and keeping our waters clean for the community to enjoy.”
SOLA3, a nonprofit, all-volunteer organization, has been leading conservation efforts for more than 20 years. The lakes, recognized as natural and historic treasures, face ongoing challenges such as pollution, algae blooms and sediment buildup. Learn more at sola3.org.
