Allison Emmons wins Rusty Rudder 5K in 17:58

Jules Woodall runs 200th straight Ten Sisters series race in Dewey

Allison Emmons, 46, was the overall winner at the Rusty Rudder 5K July 12 in Dewey Beach. 

Asked if she was surprised to place first overall in a race run by 171 people, Emmons said, “Not at all. Running is what I do.” 

Emmons did her high school running at A.I. duPont and won multiple state titles in the distance events.

Sam Elston, 18, of Gibsonia, Pa., was second overall and first male finisher in 18:09. Dan Speirs, 44, of Newtown Square, Pa., won the male masters division in 19:16.

Caroline Coffill, 42, of Richmond, Va., won the female masters title in 20:23.

Jules Woodall, 77, was escorted to the finish line by running friends to complete his 200th straight Ten Sisters race in 33:46. His son Dan, 50, ran 39:03.
