Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority local chapter offering two scholarships; apply by March 15

Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc., Alpha Alpha Mu Omega Chapter will be awarding two scholarships for Sussex County high school students graduating this May or June – the Lomax Leadership Scholarship and the Collick Community Book Scholarship.

The Lomax Leadership Scholarship is named in honor of Mary C. Lomax, who led the charge in the establishment of the Alpha Alpha Mu Omega Chapter and served as its first president. This scholarship in the amount of $1,000 will be awarded to a recipient who demonstrates an exceptional commitment to service within their local communities. This scholarship is based on academic achievement, aptitude, leadership, character and financial need.

The Collick Community Book Scholarship was established with the purpose to provide financial assistance to Sussex County high school seniors pursuing their undergraduate education at a two-year or four-year accredited college, university or technical college. It is named in honor of Stephanie Collick, whose commitment to service was instrumental in the establishment of the Alpha Alpha Mu Omega Chapter, and who served as its first vice president. This $500 scholarship will be awarded to a recipient who demonstrates an exceptional commitment to service within their local communities. This scholarship is based on academic achievement, aptitude, leadership, character and financial need.
