American Legion Post 17 honors veterans at Delaware Veterans Cemetery

The William T. Spooner American Legion Post 17 of Lewes held a Memorial Day weekend ceremony May 25 at Delaware Veterans Cemetery in Millsboro to honor deceased veterans buried and interred at the property.
The ceremony featured the JROTC Drill Team from Caesar Rodney High School, guest speakers, a poetry reading, guest musical performers, active-duty and retired service members, and family of deceased veterans. Following the ceremony, the public was encouraged to spend time on the property paying their respects.
Walking around the cemetery, one receives a gentle reminder of what the holiday is about.
Lani Spahr, a Scottish Highland bagpiper, plays at the event.
