Looking to assist those who have a financial need to receive treatment, Addiction Medical Solutions of Delaware is now offering the Adam Breitrick Treatment Scholarship.

Located off Route 1 outside Rehoboth Beach, AMS of Delaware is a comprehensive medication-assisted treatment rehabilitation service for persons suffering from opiate use disorder. Treatments include opioids, methadone, heroin, buprenorphine and fentanyl.

Living in Wisconsin, Adam Breitrick was 23 years old when he died from a heroin overdose. Joined by about three dozen people March 21, most wearing a T-shirt with Adam’s name on it, Adam’s mother Deb Breitrick visited AMS of Delaware to help with the dedication of the scholarship.

Addicts in treatment sometimes have a tough decision between buying food, paying bills or continuing to pay for treatment, said Deb. The purpose of the scholarship is so there are no barriers to treatment, she said.

AMS has multiple location throughout the country, including Wisconsin, Florida, Maryland and Delaware. In her son’s name, Deb is working with AMS to provide these scholarships. It’s an open enrollment scholarship that’s based on need, she said.

AMS of Delaware is open 5 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 6 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., Saturday. For more information on the Adam Breitrick Treatment Scholarship and Addiction Medical Solutions, 20576 Coastal Highway, Rehoboth Beach, call 302-227-1320 or go to amsdelaware.com.
