Andrew Slater named Energize Delaware executive director

March 15, 2023

Energize Delaware recently announced Andrew Slater as its new executive director.

Slater had served as Delaware’s public advocate for the last six years.

Hired in 2009, Tony DePrima, current executive director, is retiring from his position and has worked with Slater to assure a smooth transition.

“Drew Slater has everything it takes to move the Delaware Sustainable Energy Utility Inc. and its Energize Delaware brand forward into the future,” said DePrima. “He has a deep knowledge of energy, and he is well networked in Delaware. As a former board member, he knows how we work. And he has a winning personality and believes deeply in sustainability.”

Slater takes on his new role with more than 20 years of experience advocating public policy solutions. He served as vice president of the National Association of State Utility Consumer Advocates and spoke on many panels regarding rate design, collaboration and clean technology.

“I’m deeply honored to be selected by the board to succeed Tony as the executive director of Energize Delaware,” said Slater. “We are in the midst of an energy transformation, and the SEU (Energize Delaware) is well positioned to lead the transition to cleaner, more sustainable sources of energy for all Delaware consumers.”

The Delaware Sustainable Energy Utility, DBA Energize Delaware, is a unique 501c3 that gives energy-efficiency grants and low-interest loans to qualified borrowers, helping them install solar energy systems or make energy efficiency upgrades. Energize Delaware programs help Delaware residents, businesses, nonprofits, government facilities, farms, faith organizations and schools become energy efficient.
